Nobuoto Nojima is a Professor of Department of Civil Engineering, Gifu University, Japan. He received his undergraduate degree, M. Eng. and Dr. Eng. in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University. He began his professional career at Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University in 1992 and has been in his current position since 2006. He also serves as a Director of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Research Center, Gifu University since 2015. Previous work has included seismic hazard analysis, seismic risk assessment for lifeline systems and real-time earthquake disaster prevention systems. Academic prizes have been awarded to him from Japan Society for Civil Engineers (JSCE), Japan Association for Earthquake Engineering (JAEE), Japan Society for Natural Disaster Science (JNDS) and Institute of Social Safety Science (ISSS).
