Prof. M. Eren Uckan

Dr. Eren Uckan is a full time professor at Alanya University. He received his bachelors and master’s degrees from Middle East Technical University, Ankara and his doctorate from Bogazici University, Istanbul.

His areas of interest are lifeline and infrastructure earthquake engineering, liquid storage tanks, water and hydrocarbon pipelines, passive vibration control, seismic base isolation, experimental methods, testing and certification of non-structural elements

He made short-term visits to the University of Ljubljana, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and Roma Tre Universities as well as long term visit to King Saud University (Saudi Aramco Chair) to investigate the seismic performance of critical infrastructures.

Dr. Uckan took part in the STORM Project (H2020) on the protection of cultural heritage (CH) in Europe as the leader of the Turkish side. He also participated in the STREST-FP7(Risk based assesment of major hydrocarbon transmission pipelines), NATO SfP (BTC pipeline), MarDIM (Japanese Turkish) projects as researcher.

He is the coordinator of the lifelines sub-committee of the Turkish Earthquake Foundation and active member of the WG13 (Critical Infrastructures) of European Association of Earthquake Engineering (EAEE). He has nearly 100 publications in the form of journal and proceedings papers and technical reports.
